The Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) Luangwa Catchment Office joined other stakeholders at Katondo Secondary School Ground in Kabwe District to commemorate the 2026 World Water Day.
The event was officiated by the District Commissioner, Mr. Lenox Shimwambwa, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary for Central Province, Dr. Milner Mwanakampwe.
During the event, WARMA engaged with stakeholders and community members to highlight its work in managing and protecting Zambiaโs water resources.
The Authority explained how it resolves conflicts among water users, including domestic and commercial users. It also outlined how it regulates the drilling sector, ensuring that drilling standards are followed to protect groundwater.
WARMA further emphasized its efforts to safeguard strategic water sources through the mapping and monitoring of Water Resources Protection Areas (WRPAs).
The Authority urged communities, local authorities, and other stakeholders to collaborate with WARMA in protecting and preserving these water sources, pointing out that such collaboration is vital for sustaining community well-being, ensuring water security, and supporting national development.
We remain committed to protecting Zambiaโs water resources and ensuring fair and equitable access to water for all.
