Eng. Wesley Lwiindi – Board Member (Hydropower Generation Representative, ZESCO Ltd)

Eng. Wesley Lwiindi is a seasoned Mechanical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Zambia and over 35 years of professional experience in hydropower plant design, construction, operation, and management. He has played a leading role in major energy infrastructure projects, including the 750MW Kafue Gorge Lower Hydropower Project, the feasibility studies and preparatory works of the 1,200MW Batoka Gorge Scheme, the 120MW Itezhi Tezhi Hydropower project and the 360MW Kariba North Bank Extension. His expertise spans project finance, operations management, and technical leadership, ensuring that large-scale hydropower projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and in compliance with engineering standards.

Eng. Lwiindi has held senior leadership positions at ZESCO Ltd, including Director of Power Generation and Project Director for multiple hydropower developments, overseeing project planning, execution, and performance optimization.

On the WARMA Board, Eng. Lwiindi represents hydropower generation interests, providing strategic and technical guidance on the intersection of water and energy resources. His extensive experience strengthens the Authority’s regulatory oversight, ensuring that water allocation supports sustainable energy production while safeguarding Zambia’s water resources for social, environmental, and economic development.
