Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Muwezwa I of the Ila people in Itezhi-Tezhi District is a respected traditional leader and seasoned educator. She holds a Diploma in Traditional Leadership and Governance, a Certificate in Corporate Governance, and a Diploma in English and History. Before ascending to the throne, she taught in various schools for many years, shaping young minds and contributing to the education sector.
As the Traditional Leadership Representative (House of Chiefs) on the WARMA Board, Chieftainess Muwezwa I integrates the perspectives of traditional leadership and rural communities into national water resource management. She ensures that customary land rights, cultural practices, and community concerns are considered in governance and regulatory processes. Her advocacy spans gender equality, conflict resolution, and community participation in sustainable water use, strengthening WARMA’s ability to deliver socially inclusive, culturally sensitive, and sustainable water management.
