Mr. Edson Nkonde – Board Member (Climate and Meteorology Specialist, Ministry of Green Economy and Environment)
Mr. Nkonde is the Director of the Zambia Meteorological Department with over 15 years of experience in operational meteorology, climate research, and strategic leadership. He holds a Master of Science in Applied Meteorology, Climate, and Management from the University of Reading, UK, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Zambia.
As the Climate and Meteorology Specialist on the WARMA Board, Mr. Nkonde represents the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, providing guidance on integrating climate science into water resource management. He leads initiatives in climate modeling, hydrological forecasting, and climate risk assessment, supporting the development of resilient water allocation strategies, early warning systems, and climate-informed policy. His work ensures Zambia’s water resources are managed sustainably under changing environmental conditions while aligning with national and international climate frameworks.
