The Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) is participating in the 14th Zambia Water Forum and Exhibition (ZAWAFE), taking place from 9th to 11th June 2026 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
The Forum, being held under the theme “From Commitment to Action: Accelerating Integrated Resilience Solutions for Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” was officiated by the Republican Vice President, Her Honour Dr. W.K. Nalumango.
Speaking during her keynote address, Mrs. Nalumango noted that water is key to national development, contributing to all sectors, including mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and public health.
She added that the government is reviewing legislation, such as the Water Supply and Sanitation Act, to strengthen the governance of the regulatory framework. This is aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring equitable service delivery.
The Vice President reiterated that the government remains committed to supporting the water and sanitation sector as a key contributer to national development.
She has since called on regulatory bodies and stakeholders to jealously safeguard water management matters.
During the conference, WARMA will host a session on Wednesday at 14:00 hrs in session room one, under the theme “Water Resources Management – Strengthening Evidence-Based Water Resources Management.”
WARMA will be showcasing its ongoing efforts in promoting sustainable water resources management through data-driven decision-making, effective regulation, water resources monitoring, and climate resilience initiatives.
